Our Power Services team has been in the business for over 42 years. We offer all aspects of power generators for standby, prime, and mobile power production. We install, maintain, and service generators for the residential, telecommunications, industrial, and commercial power generation market.

Primary JOB FUNCTIONS:

GenPro Energy Solutions is seeking an experienced Generator Service Manager to join our Power Services Team, to analyze, research, and prepare quotes for parts, repairs, & schedule service for our customers’ generators. This position takes a perfect combination of skills including an extensive knowledge of generator maintenance & repair; management of personnel, tasks, & scheduling; strong communication, & good computer skills. The successful candidate must also possess the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, work independently, is detail orientated, able to meet deadlines, & exhibits strong problem-solving skills while maintaining accuracy in all work performed.  

Reporting relationship:  Senior Director of Power Services

Pay Range:  G11 $55,455 – $73,339 Per Year *Based on Experience & Knowledge in Power Generation

Essential Job Functions:

 

The Generator Service Manager position is considered Essential Personnel and will be required to work during and following natural disasters and emergency situations. This job cannot be performed remotely.

  • Manage & schedule daily activities of all Generator Technicians.

  • Manage cost controls including but not limited to technician overtime, fuel consumption, travel & lodging.

  • Ensure Technicians are up to date on all required training.

  • Mentor, reward/council, review technician performance to ensure compliance with Company standards and procedures.

  • Manage & schedule service calls, rescheduled appointments, and open work orders.

  • Manage & schedule preventative maintenance, & generator repair service.

  • Create cost & material estimates for repairs

  • Build, develop, and maintain exemplary customer and vendor relationships while maintaining a high level of quality and technical service.

  • Review work orders, work progress, service requests, schedules, and priorities to ensure efficient and effective utilization of personnel, product, and materials.

  • Requires a good understanding of price margins and how to determine markup

  • Requires a good understanding of cost, sales, and asset accounts

  • Provide outstanding customer service focused on generator service and designated high priority requests, as well as resolve all customer complaints.

  • Work with other team members to meet company profitability goals, turnaround time, service schedules and company objectives while promoting company reliability and maintaining customer satisfaction.

  • Assist Parts Department other team members as necessary

  • Requires a good understanding to perform preventative and corrective maintenance on Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) and annunciator panels to trouble shoot.

  • Requires a basic understanding for troubleshooting units to identify possible problems with engine and or generator.

  • Basic understanding for trouble shooting on how to test batteries, fuel coolant, and oil, ship oil samples for analysis.

  • Perform housekeeping duties as needed to keep Parts & Service office and warehouse area clean and organized 

  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and policies

  • Other duties as assigned

      Knowledge:

      • Minimum 2-3 years Generator installation experience or equivalent

      • Strong leadership, reporting, and customer service skills

      • 1-2 years of employee supervision/mentor/management skills

      • Basic electrical, mechanical, thermal, and hydraulic principles and practices.

      • Engine Control Systems and other program logic controls that are associated with IC power generation.

      • Electrical and mechanical safety procedures.

      • Applicable local, state, and national regulations such as SMAQMD, CARB, and EPA.

      • Natural Fire Protection Codes.

      • Industrial Diesel and or Gaseous Industrial engines.

      • Computer technology

      • Operating forklift

      Physical Demands and abilities:

      • Physically able to lift and move objects 10-50 pounds

      • Standing/walking for long periods

      • Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, lift or stretch

      • Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance

      • Climbing and descending stairs and ladders

      • Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers

      • Comfortable working on feet for long periods of time

      Working Conditions:

      Education/Licenses:

      • High School Diploma or equivalent

      • Valid Driver License with acceptable driving record
